Tipping function facing axe
THIRD-PARTY taxi booking apps that force users to say whether or not they will give a tip could soon be outlawed.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the apps should be adjusted in line with direction from local traffic authorities.
A spokesperson for the Shanghai traffic authority said: “The apps haven’t taken our advice on removing the tipping function.”
Users of Kuaidi Taxi can choose to give a tip of between 5 (80 US cents) and 30 yuan, while Didi Taxi subscribers can tip from 5 to 20 yuan.
