Today set to be dry but cloudy

AFTER last night’s downpours, today should be dry and sunny, though a little cooler and cloudy, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

The temperature will range between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius, and the air quality should be good to excellent, it said.

Tomorrow will remain overcast, with the mercury floating between 16 and 23 degrees, before the rains return on Monday due to a trough of low pressure, it said.

Tuesday and Wednesday are also expected to be cloudy, though the mercury on both days could soar as high as 29 degrees, the bureau said.

Authorities issued a yellow weather alert at 4:10pm yesterday — the lowest on a three-tier scale — as heavy rain, thunder and lightning were reported across the city.

A high of 26 degrees was recorded at the benchmark Xujiahui weather station, the bureau said.
