Tourism Day, cheaper tickets set to bring big crowds
THIRTY-SEVEN tourist attractions in Shanghai will offer half-price tickets to visitors on May 19 to mark the China Tourism Day.
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Wild Animal Park and Sheshan Happy Valley are among the sightseeing spots, said the Shanghai Tourism Administration.
Anticipating a spike in visitor number, some spots said they will extend their service hours on the day.
On the same day last year, local tourist attractions that offered half-price tickets were flooded with people who started to queue up at the gates right as early as sunrise.
Tourism officials said that as this year's May 19 happens to be Saturday, a huge volume of visitors is expected in all the sightseeing spots and people should be well prepared for big crowds and hot weather.
