'Tourism passport' to offer deals on scenic spots
A NEW type of "tourism passport" marking the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China will be available for Shanghai visitors, and some special residents, in autumn.
Tourism authorities will select 25 must-see spots in Shanghai.
The "passport" will be distributed for free in the city and include half-fare vouchers for the chosen sites.
A total of 2,000 of these "passports" would be available at city tourist-service centers, the Shanghai Tourism Administration said yesterday.
"We have ensured that all the scenic spots listed on the 'passport' are the best in Shanghai," said Chen Meihong, deputy director of the administration.
Chen said city civil affairs authorities would also distribute the "passports" to local needy people and those who had made great contributions to society.
The city will also promote osmanthus appreciation trips to attract tourists.
Sites, such as Daguanyuan Garden and Oriental Land in Qingpu District and Guilin Park in Xuhui District, will hold osmanthus exhibitions in October.
