Tropical storm Malou to bring rain
THE year's ninth tropical storm, Malou, is expected to bring rain to the city early today. But forecasters say the influence of Malou will not be as strong as that of typhoon Kompasu, which affected the city last week.
"Just like Kompasu, the structure of Malou is very complicated, and it's relatively hard to make forecasts on its moving path," said Fu Yi, a forecaster with the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
The storm brought drizzle to some parts of the city yesterday and it lowered the maximum temperature to 33.1 degrees from Saturday's 34.2 degrees, the bureau said.
Lightning and rainstorms are likely tomorrow, but sunny weather will be back on Thursday before another spell of rain late on Friday, forecasters said.
Maximum temperatures during the week will be around 32 to 33 degrees with lows of 27 to 28 degrees.
