Tropical storm to bring showers

SHOWERS are expected to be frequent this weekend because of tropical storm Meranti, forecasters said yesterday. The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said the next few days would be mainly cloudy to showery with the maximum temperature dropping below 30 degrees Celsius over the weekend.
Meranti was upgraded to a severe tropical storm yesterday and was moving northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
