Truck with flammable load overturns

A TRUCK carrying methyl alcohol overturned on a city expressway in suburban Jinshan District on Sunday night, city police said yesterday.
There were no reports of any leaks of the flammable liquid, said local environmental authorities.
Police said no one was injured in the accident.
The road was not reopened to traffic until yesterday noon.
The accident occurred about 11pm as the truck was traveling on the G15 expressway leading to neighboring Zhejiang Province, traffic police said.
It crashed into barriers and rolled over, police said.
The truck, which had a crew of two, was loaded with 30 tons of methyl alcohol, the authorities said.
Part of the road was blocked and traffic to Zhejiang soon backed up for more than 4 kilometers, witnesses said.
The methyl alcohol was transferred to another vehicle before the truck was towed away, the authorities said.
Environment supervision vehicles also reported to the scene to monitor the area.
Driver fatigue may have been a factor in the accident, city police said.
