Tumbling water barrels, bus halt
A truck loaded with empty water barrels hit a tree and drove onto the sidewalk of downtown Nanjing Road W. yesterday morning, injuring a flower vendor and blocking traffic.
The accident occurred about 11:30am when the 5-ton truck brushed a curbside tree on Nanjing Road W. near Nanhui Road in Jing'an District and lost control, the driver said.
The truck then crashed into a power pole for electric buses and halted all the electric buses on the road.
The driver was not injured but the truck was seriously damaged and empty water barrels tumbled down, hitting an old woman who was selling flowers on the sidewalk. Her injury was not serious.
