Warm spell forecast as rain, sleet fade away
DESPITE yesterday being the official start of the second solar term, or Yushui — literally “rain water” — skies are set to clear today, forecasters said.
Yesterday was wet and cold with the morning low in most districts between 1 and 2 degrees Celsius. The clouds broke later in the day.
Today will see the start of a warmer spell, with temperatures ranging from a low of 1 degree to a high of 9 degrees.
Friday will be similar to today, though the high could break 10 degrees.
At the weekend there will be a mix of sunshine and clouds. On Saturday, the mercury will fluctuate between 3 and 10 degrees, while on Sunday, it will vary between 5 and 11 degrees.
The rain is set to return on Monday, forecasters said, but the warm weather will remain in the range of 6 to 12 degrees.
Despite the rains earlier in the week, Shanghai did not see any snow, though there were heavy falls in neighboring cities.
“Shanghai was not within the area hit worst by the cold front,” the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
