Warmer, dry days on the cards

TEMPERATURES will climb from tomorrow, with several cloudy to sunny days coming up, but it will likely be chillier than average in the city this winter under the influence of La Nina, weather bureau forecasters said yesterday.

China’s eastern areas tend to be colder under the influence of La Nina, El Nino’s opposite.

“The city will warm up from Thursday, and this cold front will not bring the city into full winter,” said Zhu Jiehua, an official with the city’s meteorological bureau.

The city usually enters winter on December 3 and the next cold front will probably mark the start, said Wu Rui, another service officer. Yesterday’s low was 12.1 degrees Celsius and the high was 13.2 degrees as recorded by the Xujiahui weather station between 8am and 6pm.

Today will be overcast with some drizzle at night, with a low of 10 degrees and a high of 13. Air quality should be good to excellent. Tomorrow should be cloudy to sunny, with a high of 15.
