Warmer weather for weekend with some rain

THE cold is expected to abate but humid conditions should return during the weekend and into early next week with light rain lingering, forecasters said.

The morning chill today pushed lows in most districts down to between minus 3 and minus 1 degree Celsius.

Suburban Chongming County was recorded as having the coldest low at minus 4.3 degrees. The benchmark weather station in Xujiahui recorded a low of 1.3 degrees Celsius this morning.

After a sunny day today, an increase in clouds is likely Friday night that will bring overcast skies and increase rainfall chances starting Saturday.

Lows are expected to bounce back into positive territory across the city. On the weekend and Monday, the low is expected to be between 4 and 5 degrees Celsius.

High temperatures are expected to be around 8 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday. Monday’s high is forecast to drop to 6 degrees.

The mercury on Tuesday is predicted to drop slightly by 1 to 2 degrees, with a low of about 2 degrees and a high of around 5 degrees Celsius.
