Water Pipes To Be Fixed In Old Areas
THE city's water authority is repairing or renovating pipes in old neighborhoods to meet increased demand during the heat wave, officials said yesterday.
The campaign started late last month. Thus far, 28 projects have been started across the city. They will benefit about 53,500 people by the middle of this month, Shanghai Water Authority officials said.
The latest project is at a 15-year-old residential area in Yangpu District. Officials said the tap water was sometimes dirty and the water pressure was low at 296 households at Lane 31, Shuangyangzhi Road.
The pipes there will be replaced.
