Water leaking delays Metro Line 2 services in morning rush hours

Water leaking between Songhong Road Station and Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station caused trains on Metro Line 2 to drive at a slower speed during the rush hour this morning, delaying many commuters.

Shanghai Metro Operator said on its microblog at 6:12am that the trains were traveling with longer intervals between East Xujing Station and Songhong Road Station due to the glitch.

The operator launched an emergency plan for the section. A total of 30 buses transported stranded commuters.

The operator also took commuters limit measures at stations of Jing'an Temple, People's Square, Zhongshan Park, Jiangsu Road and Nanjing Road E which can transfer with Line 2.

Passengers who are heading to Hongqiao Railway Station or Terminal 2 at Hongqiao Airport are advised to switch to Metro Line 10.
