Weather could clear at weekend

THE rainy weather is forecast to stop today but temperatures will continue to drop with the spreading of cold fronts, weathermen said this morning.

The sky is expected to be clear, mainly sunny to cloudy, in the following four to five days and the maximum temperature should be around 22 degrees Celsius, which should be good for outdoor activities such as visiting the Expo, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

But with the increase of cold fronts, the lowest temperature this weekend could be 14 degrees in the morning.

The bureau said the cold fronts affecting the city were from three directions, east, northwest and west. Officials explained that the eastern cold front will be wet while the west one would bring the city dry and sunny weather. But the strongest front was from the northwest, which will cause gales and a drop in temperature.

The weather tomorrow is forecast to be sunny to cloudy with temperatures ranging from a low of 16 degrees and a high of 23, according to the bureau's website. Saturday should also be sunny to cloudy and the temperatures should be between a low of 15 degrees and a high of 23.
