Weather outlook has a crimson hue

HIGH temperatures, blue sky and white clouds are forecast over the next few days.

The forecast is for mainly sunny to cloudy weather from this weekend to early next week with temperatures ranging from 28 to 35 degrees Celsius, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

The bureau also said crimson clouds, a meteorological phenomenon appearing during sunrise and sunset in conditions of low clouds and fine air quality, would continue to show up in the next few days.

"Meteorologically, there is no such term as crimson clouds. It is just a phenomenon of sunshine falling on the low clouds, which is like fire burning the clouds," said Li Jinyu, a chief service officer of the bureau.

The city's environmental authority said that, like last month, the air quality in August was good.
