Weather set to put damper on Qixi
CLOUDY weather with the prospect of afternoon showers is forecast for the early part of this week.
The next three days will see Shanghai’s weather dominated by a north-moving subtropical high pressure front, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
This will bring cloudy weather but with the threat of scattered showers in the afternoons.
Later in the week, thundershowers are forecast.
Romantics have been warned that it’s likely to be a wet Qixi — China’s own Valentines Day — on Thursday, so dinner for two might be a better option than a stroll in the park, said forecasters.
Temperatures for the working week are set to remain in the low thirties, getting no higher than 32 degrees Celsius.
Yesterday was traditional Chinese solar term chushu — literally meaning the end of the heat.
It signals that summer is fading and that autumn days are on the way.
