Wet Monday may test students

DRY weather is expected over the weekend, when thousands of Shanghai high school students sit the college entrance examination, with temperatures likely to hit 30 Celsius degrees, forecasters said yesterday.

Overcast conditions and scattered showers are predicted for today, with weaker winds than recent days and the mercury fluctuating between 20 and 27 degrees.

Sunnier conditions are forecast on Friday and Saturday, with temperatures creeping up to 29 degrees before reaching 30 degrees on Sunday.

But the higher temperature on Sunday doesn’t mean it will be sunny all day, forecasters said, with cloud predicted later on.

Rain is set to return on Monday, bringing the high temperature down to 27 degrees.

So students setting out on the final day of the exam are advised to take an umbrella or risk a drenching en route to the exam hall, said forecasters.
