Wet days as plum rains to return

THE plum rain will be back after a brief period of sunshine.

Typhoon Nepartak was too weak to affect the subtropical high and the plum rain belt rebuilding over the city, forecasters said.

The plum rain season usually finishes on July 10 in Shanghai.

More rains are expected this week. It will be mainly cloudy today with some scattered afternoon thundershowers and a high of 34 degrees Celsius. There will be thundershowers from Thursday. The wet weather will last until Friday. Rains will taper off on Saturday morning and most of the weekend will be dry.

Temperatures will fluctuate between 26 and 33 degrees on Thursday and Friday. The high will dip a bit to 30 and 31 degrees at the weekend.

It was slightly polluted yesterday with the air quality index exceeding 100 at 4pm.

By 6pm, the index reached 139 and the concentration of main pollutant PM2.5 hit 106 micrograms per cubic meter.
