Wi-Fi available on most Metros
METRO commuters can now access Wi-Fi on 10 lines and on part of Metro Line 11, the service provider said.
The free Wi-Fi service covers the platform as well as the trains running underground.
The lines covered by the service are Metro lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, the service provider Galaxy Valley Company said yesterday.
Part of Metro Line 11, between Xujiahui and Disney stations, was also covered. The entire line is expected to be connected soon.
The company said engineers were working on three more lines in the city — Metro Line 5, 10 and 16, but it declined to give a specified timetable on its completion.
“We are also working on nine new subway lines which are still under construction,” an officer with the company, Wu Jueqiao, said.
“The service is very likely to be ready once the new lines are connected,” he said.
To use the Wi-Fi, commuters will have to download an application on their mobile phones and register.
