Winter's first snow is light and short
SHANGHAI had its first snow this winter today although it was short and mostly in the suburbs, city weather bureau said.
Under the influence of warm humid currents from the south and weak cold currents from the north, snow fell this morning in the southern and western parts of Shanghai, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
Snow was reported in Fengxian, Jinshan, Songjiang, Minhang, Pudong and Qingpu districts but it stopped before 10:35am. Jinshan enjoyed a longer period of snow.
The snow was light and did not accumulate on the ground due to traffic emissions, the bureau said.
Shanghai expects warmer temperatures this weekend and the weather will be mostly overcast with drizzles.
The low will be around 5 degrees and the high will be 8 degrees Celsius.
