World Cup packages not proving popular
TOUR packages to the 2010 World Cup may not be too popular locally because of their high cost and concern over security problems, travel agencies said yesterday.
The Spring International Travel Service said its World Cup packages will cost from 35,000 yuan to 37,000 yuan.
Tourists will be able to enjoy the semi-final or the final during their 10-day trip. But no one had signed up for the package, and there had only been a few inquiries.
"As South Africa is a newly rising tour destination for Chinese tourists, we don't expect a World Cup travel rush," said Li Yan, an official with the company.
"Most people here don't know much about Africa, and they will be concerned about whether they can enjoy a safe trip there," Li added.
