Xupu Bridge work starts

A YEAR-LONG overhaul of the 18-year-old Xupu Bridge across the Huangpu River has begun, reported the Shanghai Morning Post. Work is planned to take place at night, during which two or three of the eight lanes will be closed. This will ensure smooth daytime traffic flow over the busy bridge, which connects Xuhui District and Pudong New Area, it reported. The project aims to repair cracks and other damage, said officials. New technologies will also be introduced to decrease noise by 10 percent and dust by 90 percent, added project officials.
