1 killed, 14 injured in truck crash

ONE person was killed and 14 injured in a road accident near a construction site in the Dongtan Wetlands of Hengsha Island yesterday morning, Chongming officials said.
The 15 construction workers were traveling in a pickup truck when it crashed into the rear of a crane and fell sideways into a ditch around 7am.
A woman died at the scene and 12 injured workers were taken to Changhai Hospital in Yangpu District.
Four workers were treated for multiple fractures and one suffered a ruptured spleen.
One of the injured, Chen Xinxiang, 48, said: “I fell from the truck with the others, and packs of cement loaded on the truck fell on us,” Chen told Shanghai Daily.
