11/11/11 - A special day to tie the knot
MORE than 1,500 local couples have made reservations to tie the knot on November 11, the day with six "1s," to show their "whole-heartedness" to their spouses.
The figure is about seven times higher than that of a normal day. New couples prefer 10am to 11am in the morning to draw their marriage certificate most, the city's marriage registration authority said.
Last year, on October 10, 10,150 couples said "I do" at the city's marriage registration offices, the most on a single day since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, as "10-10-10" symbolizes "perfect in everything" for Chinese people.
The Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau said this year on "11-11-11," the marriage number may break the record.
