THE city’s courier firms delivered a total of 1.3 billion parcels in 2014 — a 35 percent increase on the previous year and setting a new record of monthly deliveries with more than 100 million parcels on average delivered within the city, the Shanghai Postal Administration said yesterday. Each city resident received 53 parcels last year on average — five times the national average. Local residents spent 753 yuan (US$122) on courier services on average, six times the sum spent in other cities and provinces across the nation, said officials.
