2 catering firms lose business licenses
TWO catering companies have had their business licenses revoked after being found guilty of poisoning their customers, the local food and drug administration said yesterday.
The first, Shanghai Yiyong Dining Management Co, was also fined 50,000 yuan (US$8,060) after workers at a local fabrics manufacturer fell ill after eating food provided by the company on January 19, according to the Songjiang District branch of the Shanghai FDA.
The second, Shanghai Fenglian Dining Co, lost its license but was not fined after employees at a local engineering company became ill after eating its food on March 11.
The two companies are the first to have their licenses revoked since the introduction of a new penalty points system earlier this year.
As of the end of last month, 756 restaurants, food production and catering firms had been docked points for various offenses. Companies that lose all 12 of their allocated points can face disciplinary action.
