2 caught for license test ‘switch’
A man who sat the driver’s license exam on behalf of his friend this month faces six months in detention — and so does the friend, police said yesterday.
It is the first such case in Shanghai since the Chinese Criminal Law was amended in 2015 to increase the punishment from 15 days’ detention.
A man surnamed Chen asked his friend surnamed Lin to take the test because he had failed twice to regain his license. He said his license was suspended in July after he was received 12 demerit points for riding a motorcycle without a plate.
But police spotted the fake identity card when Lin turned up for the test.
