2 held for beating up passer-by
TWO suspects who allegedly beat up a Good Samaritan and blinded him in one eye last week have been detained.
The two men, aged 33 and 47, were involved in a scuffle with a delivery guy in Pudong New Area last Tuesday.
They were drunk. Wang Qi, a passer-by in his 40s, tried to stop them. Instead, they turned on to him.
Fearing his own life, he fled the scene. They chased him as he slipped and fell near his neighborhood.
As he struggled to get up one of the suspects grabbed his stick umbrella and hit him on the head.
The two suspects were caught on Saturday, police confirmed yesterday.
Wang is in hospital, blinded in his right eye, his wife said.
The Pudong Public Security Bureau is helping the Weifang neighborhood, where Wang lives, to apply for the “Good Samaritan” award for him.
