2 held in city after Qingdao robbery
Two men who fled to Shanghai after robbing a clothes store owner in Shandong Province were caught by local police.
The two suspects were nabbed only three hours after Shandong police sought assistance from Shanghai police last Wednesday.
Police said the two men, armed with fake guns, walked into the store and tied up the owner with packing tape in Qingdao City on January 12.
They robbed the owner of cash, a cellphone and bank cards after threatening him.
During investigation, Qingdao police suspected the duo had likely fled to Shanghai and could be plotting similar acts.
After being briefed about the case at 9am on January 15, Shanghai police located the two in a hotel and detained them. The fake guns and a packing tape were found in the room.
Police also found the bank cards and cash stolen from the store owner.
The duo confessed to committing the crime in Qingdao and said they were planning to commit another robbery in Shanghai, police said.
