2 jailed for stealing iPads to settle debts
TWO debtors were sentenced to 13 months and 15 months in prison today for stealing four iPads from a local company, the Putuo District People's Court said today.
The convicts, surnamed Xiao and Liu, overdrew their credit cards and decided to steal the iPads to pay back their debts, prosecutors said.
The pair sneaked into Xiao's company on a Saturday in March and stole four iPads when Xiao's manager was interviewing new staff members in his office. They then sold the four iPads for 8,800 yuan (US$1,381) and cleared their debts.
They were caught by police two days later and confessed their crimes.
