2 men held for organizing lewd shows at club

TWO men have been arrested for allegedly organizing erotic dance shows at a club in Songjiang District.
The main suspect, surnamed Guan, has reportedly admitted that he cooperated with the other suspect, club owner surnamed Chen, to have his dance troupe of four girls perform erotic shows at the club, the Songjiang People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.
Guan said he established his own troupe in April last year and brought the girls to the club in May. But he found there was no interest in “ordinary shows,” the procuratorate told the court. Guan said at times only 10 people showed up for the evening.
So he asked the dancers to strip during their performances as a way to attract more people. He said he was aware that the performances were illegal.
They soon started making money. For each performance, they made around 3,000 yuan (US$500).
The scantily clad girls would walk to the sides of the stage — beyond the surveillance cameras — to entertain the audience with lewd acts, the prosecutors said.
Guan said taking pictures was not allowed and the staff would turn on blue lights above the stage that was a signal to the girls to stop because of police raid.
Songjiang Police started investigating the club in November last year after receiving several complaints about the club.
