2 held for robbing prostitute of 90,000 yuan
TWO men have been detained in Changning District for robbing a prostitute of 90,000 yuan (US$14,500) after threatening to inject her with an anesthetic, local police said yesterday.
The incident began with a man surnamed Lu contacting the unnamed female prostitute via WeChat. He offered to pay her 8,000 yuan for sex and the couple arranged to meet at a hotel in Changning on February 18.
After having sex, Lu refused to pay and told the woman he was going to call police. Minutes later, Lu’s accomplice, surnamed Wang, arrived at the hotel room dressed as a police officer. Wang told the woman that if she didn’t pay him off, he would arrest her.
The woman, however, became suspicious and began questioning Wang. Angered by her reaction, the two men threatened her with a syringe containing an anesthetic, so she handed over the money.
The two men were caught by police in Qingdao, Shandong Province, as they were about to commit a similar scam.
Lu told police he came up with the idea of robbing prostitutes after reading about similar crimes in Beijing. His victim in Changning was given an administrative detention for prostitution, police said.
