23 tourists hurt in Thailand
TWO Shanghai citizens were among 23 Chinese tourists injured in Thailand on Sunday after the speedboat they were in sank after colliding with a fishing vessel. The boat was en route to Phuket from Phi Phi island, tourism authorities said yesterday, adding that all but one of the Chinese people injured were in stable condition. One of them is said to be in serious condition, while two South Korean tourists are still missing, Xinhua reported. The speedboat was carrying 37 passengers at the time of the collision. The two Shanghai visitors were slightly injured and remain under observation in hospital. The other Chinese tourists were from south China’s Guangdong Province. Online travel agency Ctrip, which arranged the tour, said it has launched an emergency procedure, while its representatives have visited the injured in hospital.
