2-year-old dies in fire

A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl was burned to death and her grandparents suffered severe burns in a fire at their home in the Pudong New Area in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The blaze broke out about 4:30am in a two-storey villa in a residential complex on Kangqiao Road. There were six people in the villa when the fire broke out, two children, their parents and grandparents, according to an STV report. The two-year-old died while her grandparents, aged 56 and 59, were severely burned but are said to be in stable condition. The rest of the family were reported safe. Witnesses described the villa turning into a sea of flames as fire engulfed every room of the 300-square-meter home. The fire department said it received a report at 4:40am and extinguished the blaze at 5:30am. Police said they were investigating.
