3 dead, 15 injured in 11-vehicle highway pileup

Three people died and 15 was injured in a pileup accident near Fengjing toll station at G60 (Shanghai-Kunming Expressway) around 7:30am today. One person was severely injured.
Eleven vehicles piled up one kilometer from Zhejiang Province. Dozens of people got trapped.
According to a witness, about seven to eight car owners insisted on driving onto the expressway in spite of heavy fog this morning, though highway staff advised them against doing this. The accident resulted from rear-end collision into a truck, the witness said.
Today marks the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year. People working away from their hometowns are on their way back to have annual family reunion dinners.
Police are still investigating the causes of the accident.
