3 held for violent act at hospital emergency room

A man and his two friends were detained by police after clashing with a doctor and a policeman at the emergency room of the Tongji Hospital yesterday morning.
According to Putuo District police, the Jiangsu Province native was drunk when he entered the emergency room with three of his friends — a man and two women — about 4:40am yesterday.
The doctor asked him to have a CT scan done after he said he had lumbar disc protrusion. He refused to do the scan and started abusing the doctor and nurses.
His friends joined him and they damaged hospital equipment like computers and printing machines.
One of the women scratched the face of policeman who tried to calm them down.
The incident continued until 9am. The man was eventually taken away by police before undergoing medical checks at the hospital. His two friends were also detained.
The hospital said the doctor was not seriously injured and emergency services resumed after police took the trio away.
