3 years for cutting off husband鈥檚 vital organ

A WOMAN who chopped off her husband’s penis because she suspected him of having extramarital affairs has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Prosecutors told the Songjiang District People’s Court yesterday the incident happened due to marital discord.
The woman, surnamed Zhang, was married to a man surnamed Gu for over 10 years and they have a son. Zhang suspected Gu of having affairs in 2010 and had frequent conflicts.
On May 13 last year, Gu brought a woman home unaware that his wife was at home. The woman fled as soon as she saw Zhang.
Later that night, Zhang lured Gu with the pretext of having sex with him. Instead she cut off his penis with scissors hidden in the mattress. Gu was rushed to hospital but doctors could not reconnect his penis, the court heard.
“Without his penis, he can no longer have extramarital affairs. I’d rather have him disabled and take care of him all his life,” Zhang said during the trial.
She said she had no intention of killing him.
