30 injured in tunnel pile up

A PREGNANT woman and a 16-month-old child were among some 30 people injured in a pile up involving two buses yesterday morning.
Six vehicles, including a No. 781 bus and a No. 572 bus, were involved in the accident in Dapu Road Tunnel just before 10am.
According to a witness, the No. 781 bus traveling from Pudong to Puxi lost control and crashed into the back of the car in front, causing a knock-on effect of vehicles shunting into those in front.
It was reported that around 30 people were hurt, with broken bones the most serious injuries. A four-month pregnant woman was said to be in stable condition, while a 16-month baby was treated for bruising.
Tunnel traffic was affected by the accident for more than two hours, with tailbacks quickly forming.
