33 cabbies given 3-month bans
A TOTAL of 33 cabbies had their driving licenses suspended in the first two weeks of August under a new regulation targeting illegal taxis, local traffic police said yesterday.
All of the licenses were suspended for three months, while the drivers were fined and had their personal details recorded on a public security database.
Police did not say how much each person was fined, but under the new regulation, which came into force on August 1, violators can face penalties of between 10,000 yuan (US$1,625) and 50,000 yuan.
Second offenders will have their licenses suspended for six months.
