4 violent moped riders punished
FOUR moped riders who violated traffic rules and violently resisted law enforcement officers have been punished for obstructing public affairs.
Their punishments come as city police step up efforts to regulate non-car vehicles using the roads.
One of the four, surnamed Zhang, 35, was caught jumping a red light on August 3. After he was stopped by police, he cursed and hit officers, even tearing a police uniform, according to Changning District People’s Court. As he admitted guilt and showed regret, he was given a four-month detention.
The other three either rode mopeds on the sidewalks or were driving in the wrong direction, the court said. Two got a five-month detention and one a four-month detention.
