5 polluting factories to be closed in Pudong
FIVE unlicensed stone material factories in Pudong will be removed after polluting the surrounding environment for years.
The factories, located along the Nanlu Highway in Nanhui area, have been producing dust and noise in their manufacture and transportation procedures for years, according to nearby residents.
An inspection by Pudong’s environmental protection law enforcement team showed that the private factories did not have the relevant environment licenses. Two of them were ordered to suspend operations last month.
Residents said that as well as having to put up with dust and noise, surrounding roads would also become muddy in wet conditions when the factory products were transported.
Pudong New Area Environmental Protection Bureau chief Zhang Cangang told Xinmin Evening News that the factories had been listed as renovation targets by the local government this year.
The remaining three factories would suspend operations this month and all five factories would be dismantled before the end of August.
