THE Shanghai Fire Bureau has announced that it will recruit 600 firefighters as the Shanghai government seeks in a move to beef up its firefighting team. The bureau estimated that Shanghai needs another 3,000 firefighters. Most firefighters are drawn from army servicemen and leave after two years.
