81 exam cheats punished

A TOTAL of 81 students have been punished for cheating or breaking other rules during a professional-English examination last month, the Shanghai Professional Testing Authority said yesterday. The guilty parties’ test scores were voided and several of them have been banned from retaking the exam for two years.
The majority of those found guilty had hired other people to sit the test on their behalf, while four people were found to have used forged identities.
Other violations included the use of mobile phones during the test, continuing to write beyond the allotted time limit and removing test papers from the examination room.
