81 youths linked to drug cases
CITY courts handled 79 drug cases involving 81 juveniles from 2010-13, the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court said yesterday.
More than 80 percent of the cases involved trafficking, while 28 of the young people convicted had a history of drug abuse, the court said.
In one case, a 17-year-old boy was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being caught helping a man to transport more than 6 kilograms of methamphetamine.
In another, a 16-year-old girl from Hunan Province was jailed in October for 32 months after brokering the sale of 15 grams of methamphetamine.
