A digital way to pay
MOBILE payment services are now available on 20 high-speed trains running between Shanghai Hongqiao Station and Beijing South Station and at station shops, allowing passengers to make purchases via Alipay, WeChat and Union Pay, Shanghai Railway Bureau said yesterday. Passengers can pay for food and beverages by scanning a code on their mobile phones, and they can also use the service when they are offline and the money will be deducted as soon as they connect to the Internet, the bureau said. Passengers paying with their phones will also get a discount, officials said.
