A MAN has been detained for allegedly stealing 36 fire door handles from an apartment building in Xuhui District, Shanghai police said yesterday. The unnamed suspect said he planned to use them in his new house. The thefts were spotted by a property manager last month and the police were alerted. A search of the detained man’s apartment yielded 36 missing handles, which are said to be worth more than 2,000 yuan (US$322).
