Abandoned baby and family are reunited
A BABY boy abandoned by his parents because they couldn't afford his medical bills was yesterday reunited with his family at a local children's hospital.
The child's parents, who traveled to Shanghai from their hometown in Anhui Province for the reunion, were located following wide media coverage of the boy's ordeal.
They brought his twin sister with them.
Officials from the Children's Hospital of Fudan University said the two-month-old boy will stay there until the parents undergo a DNA test. "This will take several days," said Liu Yumei, a hospital official.
She said the hospital will examine the other twin today after she showed symptoms of illness.
The twins were born prematurely on December 16, and the boy was found outside a residential complex in Minhang District on January 25.
