Abandoned newborn found dead in Pudong

An abandoned newborn baby was found dead in a garbage room at a residential complex in the Pudong New Area this morning, police said.
Paramedics confirmed the baby was dead when they arrived.
A netizen identified as Candice said on her Weibo microblog that a janitor found the baby. It was not clear how she had obtained the information. The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached, according to Candice.
Police said they are investigating the case.
