Adidas ordered to pay Nike

SPORTS giant Adidas and Zheng Zhi, former captain of Chinese national soccer team, were ordered to pay 200,000 yuan (US$29,300) compensation to Nike for breach of contract by the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court.
Nike signed a four-year contract with Zheng in July 2003 to promote the company. But Zheng asked to terminate the contract in March 2005 and signed a similar contract with Adidas without the agreement of Nike. The court believed Adidas offered Zheng big incentives to violate the contract with Nike and they should both bear the responsibility for breach of contract.
