Arts festival, cruise parade among many festivities for 3-day holiday
ABOUT 50 events — from arts festival to cruise parade, flower exhibition and marathon — will be held during the three-day May Day holiday in Shanghai, thus ensuring plenty of options for a pleasant spring outing.
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower in the Pudong New Area will stage a wind music festival on April 30.
A children’s painting exhibition is ongoing at its zero-meter hall.
On Tuesday morning, there will be a cruise parade that will start from Qinghuangdao Road Water Gate and head to Shiliupu Dock and Yangpu Bridge.
Folk music performances, magic shows, pingtan, a story-telling art, and comic shows will staged on the Oriental Pearl TV Tower cruise ships from Tuesday.
Visitors to Fengjing Ancient Town in Jinshan District will be able to attend traditional watertown weddings on May 1.
Chinese opera performances will be held on the ancient stage in the town during the holiday festival.
Shanghai Happy Valley in Songjiang District will host a street dance competition.
Circus performances are also part of the programs at the amusement park during the holiday.
The Chenshan Botanical Garden in Songjiang will invite visitors to explore the secrets of aromatic plants and peppermint during classes on May 1.
The Shanghai Gongqing Forest Park in Yangpu District is hosting an urban forest flower exhibition featuring 3D paintings, gardening landscape, flower boats and fairy tale forest houses.
Azalea exhibitions are ongoing at the Fangta Park and Zuibaichi Park in Songjiang.
The ongoing azalea exhibition at Binjiang Forest Park in Pudong, which boasts the biggest azalea garden in east China, will be in its best appreciation period during the holiday.
A music festival of saxophone, violin, and guitar concerts will take place at the Dishui Lake area in Pudong, along with kite DIY, games, and barbecue activities on April 29 and 30.
A marathon run with an estimated 3,000 participants will held at Bihaijinsha Beach in Fengxian District on April 30.
A barbecue and camping festival is scheduled for April 29 and 30 at the Dongping National Forest Park in Chongming District.
A field concert and children’s drama performance will be held at the Langxia Ecological Park in Jinshan on April 30 together with a folk handicraft exhibition and farmers’ painting bazaar.
The Jinmao Tower in Pudong will invite tourists to participate in Domino competitions, while the Shanghai Film Park in Songjiang will host a cosplay animation festival during the holiday.
The Shanghai Fashion Center in Yangpu District will host a bamboo art exhibition at the same time.
